Typically, the services I provide are an out-of-pocket expense. Here are a few situations when my services may be covered by insurance or health plans: Clients who have pre-tax health spending accounts such as a Flexible Spending Account, or a Health Savings Account, may pay for services with their FSA / HAS benefit cards. When considering how much annual funds to put into your FSA or HAS, you may want to take into account the treatment services provided at Jai Kaur Healing Arts. Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurance may cover the cost and pay for your massage therapy when a doctor’s documented recommendation is behind it. If you’ve been injured on the job, or in an accident, or if you have a pain management condition and you have PIP coverage, talk with your doctor about making a referral to massage therapy. Additionally, some insurance plans provide a wellness stipend usually a specific dollar amount that may be used for therapeutic treatments that you may need for your recovery. I am happy to talk with your doctor to discuss my assessment, treatment protocols, and the therapeutic indications of my work to see if he/she will make a referral to increase the chance you will be reimbursed. I can provide you with a service invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Please take into account my cancellation policy in the event you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment: • 48-hour advance notice required. This allows time to fill the appointment with another client during that appointment slot. • Any appointment cancelled with less than 48-hour notice will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of all scheduled service(s). • Any appointment cancelled with less than a 24-hour notice will be subject to full payment of all scheduled service(s). Exceptions: If cancelling with less than 48 hours notice you may not be charged in the following circumstances: • due to emergency or sudden illness • you are already a client and it is your first time • if it is your first appointment with me and you cancel without adequate notice, you will not be charged if you rebook the appointment at the time of cancellation.

The key to getting massage & bodywork is not to wait until (A) you're injured (B) you've overexerted your body (C) you have excessive stagnation and stiffness from prolonged sitting or lack of mobility. For the best results, these treatments should be a regular part of your health maintenance. But why should you do that in the first place? Here are ten great reasons: 1. Break up scar tissue and release soft-tissue that has contracted (shortened) or atrophied. 2. Relieve pain from rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis, post-operative pain, and fibromyalgia 3. Improve cardiovascular health and facilitate more oxygen getting to tissues and organs. 4. Reduce the chance of injury or misalignment through improving alignment, body-awareness, and function 5. If you are needing pain-cessation solutions here are some things to consider that I hope will be helpful and will encourage you to explore this with me further. Pain is the sum of all its inputs. You have a chronic back ache that’s been pretty good and then all of a sudden you get a bad cold or something, what happens? Your back starts to hurt, right? It’s the sum of all inputs. There is a constant feedback loop going on between the brain and nervous system that like any regulating system is keeping checks and balances. All parts of our being are engaged in maintaining equilibrium and homeostasis. When the brain has a lot of cortical processing stuff that's going on - body parts that are already bothering it e.g. joints and limbs not moving, altered range of motion, edema, toxic overload, emotional, psychological, and spiritual pain - the brain is protecting and guarding. That's all input. Massage & Bodywork, Yoga, Ayurveda, lowers that stress level which lowers the input so there’s not so much sensory information coming in. Equilibrium, is not the same as balance. In this case, it’s a taking away of things to keep you stable. Pain is also subjective. All life’s experiences, whether we may characterize them as positive or negative are stored in the tissues and organs. The therapies I offer are often very effective at releasing the trauma held in those areas resulting in down-regulation of pain perception.

Frequency and duration of visits is determined by the reasons why the treatment is needed and sought which is assessed during the required full-health intake. A general recommendation for certain disease conditions, injuries, repetitive strain, chronic and persistent problems, would be a minimum of 5 sessions one or two weeks apart. Should we decide to work together, it is perfectly fine that we begin with one treatment. After the initial 5-week period, we can reassess to establish further treatment schedule or I can make referrals to other practitioners if needed or desired. People most often find that regular treatments make a significant improvement in their health and well being and choose to continue with a self-care schedule that fits their lifestyle and their budget. Even with long-standing clients who “graduate” out of my practice, I have seen a high rate of retention when clients return because they want a health tune-up, or the ongoing mind / body wellness support.

It’s important to understand that there are too many variables to guarantee that treatments happen exactly the way we might expect, and that you experience immediate results. Keep in mind that it takes time for treatment to begin to change the course of mind and body patterns especially when they are life-long or have become part of the tissue matrix. That said, people almost always walk out of my office feeling much better than they did when they arrived. A reasonable expectation is that as you invest in your wellness the benefits are cumulative so after the initial 5 sessions, the need for visits may decrease to a maintenance schedule of every 2 - 3 weeks, monthly, or as needed depending on many factors including budget, injury or disease history, and treatment goals. Many massage and bodywork techniques are administered using oils, especially Ayurvedic treatments. Jai Kaur Healing Arts sources only the finest, organic, and sustainably harvested oils. There may be oil residue on your skin after the treatment. If you want to prevent the possibility of oil staining your clothes, I suggest that you wear or bring a set of clothes to put on after the treatment that you won’t mind getting oil on. Please indicate if you prefer no oils be used, if lotion is preferred, or if you have a special oil or lotion you want to have used. Please indicate whether you have any sensitivity to the aroma of natural essential oils.

If you've never had a massage before, keep these points in mind: • To maximize the benefits of your treatment, schedule at a time when you can relax afterwards. Your body’s innate healing capacity has been activated. Relax and let yourself enjoy the feeling of recovery and restoration. • Fill out the health-intake forms(s), as thoroughly as possible • Think about what you want to get from our time together and we will review at the time of your appointment: How do you want to feel? What are your health and wellness goals? • Do not wear artificial scents or perfumes. • Be prepared to remove any jewelry you may wear or don't wear any. • If you're concerned about oil getting absorbed from your skin onto your clothes after treatment, you may want to bring a set of clothes to change into. • Although the experience will be pleasurable overall, if fascial work is part of your session, be prepared to feel some soreness. • Leave a minimum of 1-2 hours before and after your appointment to eat a meal. A light snack is ok. • Make sure you're well-hydrated going into the massage. Take a bottle of water with you and start drinking as soon as the massage is finished.
